The Peter A. Krueger Summer Internship Program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain professional skills and learn about museum practices at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. Cooper Hewitt is the only museum in the United States that is exclusively devoted to historic and contemporary design. Interns will acquire in-depth knowledge and develop an enriched understanding of how the museum fulfills its mission to educate, inspire, and empower people through design.
Smithsonian Affiliations, in collaboration with the Emerson Collective, Smithsonian Institution, and its Smithsonian Affiliates offers the Smithsonian Digital Learning and Engagement Internship to rising college sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are committed to helping communities, are passionate about social justice, and are driven to accelerate positive impact in our world.
To honor the achievements of DC Public high school graduate and Smithsonian Regent, Robert P. Kogod, the Smithsonian is accepting applications for an internship program named in his honor. This internship is for District of Columbia public high school students entering their junior or senior year or finishing their senior year. The internship is awarded to a student interested in the arts. Awarded students spend eight (8) weeks with their mentors in and around the Smithsonian facilities in the Washington DC area.
The Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage offers internships year-round in various fields, including folklore, cultural anthropology, ethnomusicology, linguistics, museum studies, arts administration, graphic and web design, videography, marketing, social media, and library science.
